This portrait was illustrated for a school project in which we had to depict a famous cultural icon and include a handwritten quote from them that helped define their personality or their role in society. I chose Britney Spears, as she is very iconic, and relevant, as this was illustrated during the height of the #FreeBritney movement.
The style of this piece was inspired by early 2000s fast food and movie theatre carpeting graphics, as she is a Y2K icon, and grew to fame in that era. The quote "Being famous is just a job," was chosen because I thought it was the perfect encapsulation of her relationship with the music industry and the world at large.
